2016 Summer Home Tours: Outdoor Spaces

WFporch8

Welcome to the 2016 Summer Home Tours: Outdoor Spaces edition!

If you are visiting from Making Home Base I’m really glad you’re here and would love for you to poke around a bit! Isn’t Chelsea’s home AMAZING???

Once you’ve checked out the blog, if you like what you see here feel free to subscribe on the right-hand side for lots of inspo about how to create simple style for you’re home and life!

Now let’s get down to business…

I have re-done out front porch more times than I can count but I recently spruced it up a few weeks ago with this new Wayfair patio conversation set that I separated to use on either side of the porch.

This is what the porch looks like on a clean day…

…and this is what it looks like MOST days!

We do use the porch often for eating or playing with neighbors! I’m usually parked right here working on my computer while the boys play!

These ceramic garden stools might be some of my favorite new pieces! They are SO heavy, affordable and I love the white although they come in lots of other colors!

And here is our back deck! I revealed our deck project as part of the One Room Challenge a couple of years ago and it is still one of my favorite spots in the house!

Although the chiminea is chipping, the rug needs to be replaced and the cushions have seen better days, we really use and love this space!

We use the bottom of our cooler to hold the firewood!

Originally I painted the chiminea with high heat spray paint and it works for awhile but it usually ends up chipping (due to the heat I assume) and I have to sand it down a little and give it another coat. You can tell it has been neglected this season!

And outside of the pallet desk I built, this DIY marquee anchor is probably one of my favorite projects to day!

Here is the deck in the daytime…

…and here it is at night! Don’t you want to curl up here in front of the fire with us? Well, you’re welcome anytime!

More (funny) behind the scenes footage on Snapchat too (user name: simplestylings).

And since we’re talking about outdoor spaces, make sure to check out my recent Lowe’s Home Improvement Spring Patio makeover! Can you tell yet that I like to design outdoor spaces and be outside A LOT?!?!

So, what do you think? I threw a bit of real life in here amongst the pretty pics so you know that we don’t live picture perfect around here! But we do love to enjoy the space we have and summer is the best time to do it!

Next up on the tour and the last one of the day that you will NOT want to miss is my sweet friend Julia of Cuckoo4Design! Her home is stunning and her DIY skills are equally incredible! Make sure to hop on over! Here is the schedule so far in case you need to catch up! Oh and make sure to stick around because there is much more to come!

  1. Love love love, your outdoor spaces, Summer! Your front porch is stunning – and you’re right about those garden stools, they are great and very reasonable! I think I might snag a pair for my back patio. Also, the chippy white on the chiminea totally works I think. I love it! Such a pretty tour, great spots for outdoor living!

  2. Love the new seating arrangements on the front porch, they are such an inviting spot to sit and watch the world. Of course one of my all time favorites is your back deck, it really invites you to sit and enjoy. Thanks so much for joining the 2016 Summer Home Tours.

  3. Night or day your outdoor space is the place to be this Summer! Your name truly suits you, I can feel the joy in in your writing Summer! So happy to share this home tour with you! Cheers!
