A Simple Shift Dress For All Occasions

As you can probably tell, I’ve taken a few days off from the blog this week. It’s been a bit hectic getting back in the groove of school  and I needed a few days to get organized. But I’m back and ready to tackle the upcoming fall season! I’m also trying out a different format for my posts so I hope you like it. I’m putting the pictures first and the story below to see if it flows better. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions below.

As you all know I’m slowly trying to update my wardrobe to only contain pieces that I truly love and that can be worn many ways. In keeping with the capsule wardrobe theme, I needed a dress that would go from the office, to running errands and even out with friends. I was looking for a solid-color shift dress that I can accessorize to be dressed up or down. It’s important for me to be able to wear the items I buy in several ways to create more than one outfit. I can wear this dress with ankle booties and a fun necklace, flat sandals or gladiators, and with leggings and tall boots in the winter. They also have it in a reddish wine color that I might have to order!

Believe it or not I found this blue number at Charming Charlie for $25 and it fit perfectly! I’ve never shopped at Charming Charlie for clothes before but we have one in our neighborhood so I decided to give it a shot. Every other dress I found was either too short, didn’t fit right or was not the right color palette for me. I am 5’7″ tall and this one is the perfect length. It’s loose enough that I can eat that extra taco or two but I also don’t feel like I’m wearing a potato sack. For reference I am about 135 to 140 pounds and I am wearing a medium.

The other reason that I love this dress so much is because I can wash it at home. There are exceptions to all rules but in general I do not pay to launder my clothes and I usually mess them up because I’m too lazy and cheap to take it to the cleaners. So anything that can be washed in our home washer is a plus! I will still be careful drying it but so far so good in the wash!

A little sidenote, Target is killing it in the shoe department lately and these are my FAVORITE new peep toe ankle booties/sandal that are so chic and comfortable. I love the color and they go with everything!

We are finally feeling a bit of relief in our NC weather so I’m getting even more excited about transitioning to fall clothes and activities. What are your go-to fall pieces? Do you like to mix and match outfits?

Cheers!
