Holiday Nesting On Our New ATG Stores Leather Sectional

Happy Holidays friends! We are smack dab in the middle of the holiday season, the magical period between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I feel like I need a moment of silence. A moment to breathe, to take it all in and to talk myself off the ledge of Christmas chaos.

Who am I kidding? The holidays are never going to be void of chaos, for me at least, but in the midst of the craziness I do try to carve out a few pieces of time for our favorite family traditions and creating memories with my son. My son is 8 years old now and every year he changes but the magic of the season remains the same, if not better, as he grows (although I wish he would stop growing as all moms do).

I don’t like to complicate the holidays and I’m certainly not one to make a list of all the things we want to do. It’s the little repetitive things that count for us. We love to attend local holiday celebrations (two in particular), take gifts to our neighbors, read all the traditional Christmas stories, bake cookies and snuggle on the couch watching our favorite movies. This year I’ve decided to watch Home Alone with my little man and I can’t wait! He’s never seen it and this was always one of my favorites! And I think he’s at the perfect age to find it utterly hilarious :)

Oh and by the way, I’m sharing our top secret Hogan family “Best Cookies Ever” recipe next week which has never before been shared. Promise you will not want to miss it! You ought to subscribe to my newsletter (hint, hint) so the post hits you inbox immediately!

I need to back up for a minute and give you a little bit of the back story in our living room before I introduce you to the new addition! As you probably know I like to change up our decor, like A LOT! I guess I wouldn’t be a design blogger if I didn’t. Most of the time I change it up because I find a new trend that I’m loving or I get tired of something and want a change. But every now and again I just make a poor design decision.

We used to have a HUGE doo doo brown sectional (as I so lovingly referred to it) in here which was pre-blogging design days and I was too embarrassed to even show it. So we bid it farewell to the place where all the doo doo brown couches go to live when they’re retired – Craigslist – and opted for a stylish, 3-person sofa instead of a sectional. It was a charcoal grey, tufted with a chenille type fabric and it was really, really pretty. But what it was not was good for spreading out and lounging. Our living room is small so the sofa is the main seating area and even with just me and my son on the 3-seater it felt cramped. We literally had to spoon each other if we wanted to lay down. I did love it when he curled up next to me but it just wasn’t practical or comfortable for the both of us.

I realize that was probably way more detail than you need but I promise I have a point. I decided I’d had enough and we needed a sectional back in here in order to make the most of the space and to be comfortable for movie nights or watching football. I wanted something that wasn’t too bulky, because remember we need the square footage in seating but don’t want the sectional to swallow the whole room. Leather was also important to me as we have two cats (that’s a story for a whole other day but the cliff notes version is that if you asked me a year ago if I thought I would have two cats I would have told you that you were insane) and I wanted to avoid the fabric getting scratched.

I reached out to my friends at ATGStores.com and found the Beverly Hills Furniture Urban Chaise Sectional which had everything I was looking for including a modern design. The seats are wide and spacious but overall the sectional has a low profile perfect for our space. I considered showing you pictures of the installation process but there was no process! The only thing I had to do to put it together was screw in the legs and connect the chaise to the sofa which was super easy. Seriously that was it.

I’m sitting on the sectional as I’m typing this post and I’m just so happy we have our space back! And boy you should have seen my little man’s eyes when he got home from school. I think he loves it more than I do, but I’m sure it has NOTHING to do with the fact that the back cushions move up and down :)

The feet on the sectional is one of the things that sold me immediately! I love the modern chrome look.

So that is how our story all came together and now we get to snuggle here and enjoy the holiday season in our Christmas pj’s eating popcorn, cookies and watching Home Alone! I mean what could be better than that?
