One Room Challenge: Laundry Room Decisions & Progress Week 2

One Room Challenge: Laundry Room Decisions & Progress Week 2

Happy Thursday guys and welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! I’m just going to say it right now that Week 2 is NEVER pretty. It’s usually the week where I nailing down boring details, working on my timeline and finalizing the design plan.

Just to recap if you missed last week I’m working on my laundry room which is actually a laundry closet.

This is the current space:

So, what happened this week you ask…

I scheduled the electrician for next week who is adding the electrical box to the ceiling and installing the light. We technically could have done this ourselves but it’s possible we would have done more damage to the walls than was worth it, lol! So we opted to hand this over to a professional.

I decided on the light that is going in too! Thank you to all who offered their opinion on my Instagram stories! I own both of these lights from previous rooms/projects and while I probably like the one on the left more (your choice too!) I realized that it will be mounted almost flush to the ceiling and you look directly up at it so the capiz shell light is going to work better! It also gives the space a more eclectic vibe which is what I’m going for. I think it’s going to be perfect!

And last but not least, we got rid of our old washer and dryer and scored a stackable set from Craigslist this week. And let me tell you it was the highlight of the week. Who knew a front loading washer could be so fascinating.

Although it doesn’t look like much in pictures I feel like we got a lot done! Next week I’ll be focusing on the wallpaper and starting the sliding barn door project. And yep, as of right now I’m building them myself so make sure to check back!

Here is the tentative schedule:

Week 1: design inspo & before pics

Week 4: cabinet and accessories

Week 5: DIY barn door and installation
