One Room Challenge: Laundry Room Before & Inspo

Y’all I’m so excited! It’s One Room Challenge time again! I didn’t participate in the spring and I had so much FOMO because it was the first time since my very first deck reveal three years ago that I wasn’t a part of it. But I’m back and I can’t wait to share this laundry room makeover project with you.

For those of you newbies, the ORC is a 6-week room makeover challenge hosted by Linda of Calling It Home. There are 20 featured designers that post updates of their room progress every Wednesday and on Thursdays there is an open link up where bloggers, designers and decorating aficionado’s share their rooms! Make sure to join me here every Wednesday!

This was actually the project that I was going to complete for the ORC in the spring but the key element in the room, the flamingo wallpaper, was out of stock and couldn’t get to me before the reveal. But I can tell you it was worth the wait and this is going to be one of my most fun but extravagant designs yet. I mean how awesome is this wallpaper? Okay, maybe not in an entire dining room but I think it’s going to be perfect in our small laundry closet room!

Here are a few inspiration images I came across when I was deciding on a plan.

Here are the before pictures. I’ve already pulled the wire shelving out (hallelujah) and patched the walls!

This space is small but it’s going to pack a big punch! Think Palm Beach chic meets modern farmhouse. There will be pink flamingos sliding barn doors and of course gold accents. With a little jute thrown in.

We’ll be replacing these two ancient artifacts with a stackable washer & dryer, hanging wallpaper, adding a cabinet and hanging bar for storage and organization, and installing a sliding barn door to replace the current doors that block both the hallway and the door into my son’s room. Not sure who designed it this way but they should definitely go back to school or get a little more creative with such a small space. Guess that’ll be left up to me :) Here’s the schedule for the makeover.

Here is the tentative plan for the next 5 weeks:

Week 1: design inspo & before pics

Week 2: electrical and chandelier installation

Week 3: wallpaper

Week 4: cabinet and accessories

Week 5: DIY barn door and installation

Week 6: REVEAL DAY!!!

So hold onto your seats and enjoy the six-week roller coaster you’re about to embark on because there is no doubt it will be full of craziness, delays, design changes and stress. But in the end it’s always worth it right?! Cheers to this addition of the fall 2016 one room challenge and thank you Linda of Calling It Home for creating this wonderful event! Go team!

  1. I really want to read this post without the gigantic email sign up pop up that is literally covering 2/3rds of my screen on my phone. I have tried everything to close out of it, but it will not decrease in size or go away. Otherwise, the plan for the laundry room looks great!
