One Room Challenge: The Porch Project, Week 4

Welcome to week 4 of the ORC!!!

Well, it’s confession time friends! I have made very little progress this week :(

ORC

I spent the early part of the week at the Hight Point Market with the Lowes team and Eddie Ross (eeek!!!) so I missed a few working days but, it was well worth it. Follow along on Instagram to see some of the highlights.

The real progress was getting the new bushes purchased and planted. My family is looking at me like I’m crazy, I know they are small right now, but I really want the landscaping to be clean and simple. I want the porch to be the focal point so I’m hoping the pencil Japanese holly’s and the boxwoods will help that once they grow a bit…although they are slow growing plants. We’ll see…

Here is another look at the simple benches I built. I still have to stain them but I really like the way they turned out. The second one was definitely better than the first one. You can tell which one I built first because of  the screws on the outside…oops :) #rookiemistake

I also found these adorable bowls from HomeGoods as part of the color inspiration for the space. I can see them filled with zucchini noodles with shrimp in a white wine sauce under twinkly lights, can’t you? Okay, out of the clouds. I’m not adding them to the budget just yet because I want to be 100% sure but I do love them!

I’m going to be making up for everything we lacked this week on Saturday and Sunday so watch for some sneak peeks soon!

***

Here is the updated punch list:

1. Build Tables and benches, paint chairs

2. Pressure wash and paint trim (this might not happen) and ceiling (next week)

3. Make curtains and rods (next week)

4. Stain/paint concrete (not sure about this yet)

5. Hang pendant and string lights (this weekend)

6. Remove porch rails (this weekend?)

7. Remove bushes in front and replace with new landscaping

7. Accessorize and style (week 5)

As for the budget not much has changed but I did make a decision about the plants. I decided not to include the landscaping in the porch budget because I was going to change that no matter what so I’ll have a little more wiggle room for accessories. I added some new house numbers and a flag that I promised my little guy to the plan but that could change over the next two weeks. Make sure to check out itsums.com to track your next project budget!
