One Room Challenge: Week 2, The Porch Project Update

Wow, the first week of the ORC always goes SO fast and I never feel like I get much accomplished visually. I did get quite a few shopping items out of the way while my little man was hanging with his YaYa this week!

If you missed week 1 you can read the post here and this is the inspiration board.

OB-ORC Porch Project

Here is the project punch list:

1. Build Tables (started) and benches, paint chairs

2. Pressure wash and paint trim and ceiling (next week)

3. Make curtains and rods (next week)

4. Stain/paint concrete

5. Hang pendant and string lights (purchased)

6. Remove porch rails

7. Remove bushes in front and replace with new landscaping.

7. Accessorize and style

It doesn’t look like much now but here are few of the elements going into the space.

Check out this lighting treasure I scored from the Habitat Restore this week. Not exactly craftsman style but I like to push the envelope just a little AND I saved myself a least $40+!

The next item of business is the budget because I told you I was going to complete this project on $500 or less! Some items in the budget have sifted but we’re definitely coming in under budget at the moment.

Unfortunately the ceiling fans I posted last week are no longer available and I haven’t found any equivalent in price so they are going on hold for the time being. I saved money on the pendant light but I didn’t account for the entire costs of the tables last week so that went up a bit. I added extra in the budget for plants so I’m hoping to save in that area a little too.

Here is the updated budget via my itsums.com board. Have you guys tried itsums yet? It easily keeps track of your project spending, includes the url and picture of the item you are purchasing and shows whether or not the item has been purchased. I love using this site because I can clearly see how I’m doing and there’s no question about where I’ve allocated my dollars.

{I worked on this post in conjunction with itsums ~ all my opinions are my own}

So far I’m about $50 under budget so I’m feeling really good about it and hopefully I can save a few more $!

Make sure to check out the participating bloggers progress this week as well as those of us linking up today.

I hope you have a great rest of the week!

Cheers!
