The Southern Coterie Summit 2017 Recap: Sea Island, GA

Happy Tuesday!! I’m here as promised and I’m so excited to share some images from our time at The Southern Coterie Summit and the beautiful Sea Island Resorts last week. It was such a rewarding and invaluable few days and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been able to attend!

We started with a welcome gathering and jumped right into social media strategy with Mandy of Waiting on Martha. Next we learned all about the ins and outs of starting your own business with the ladies from Lizzie Fortunato Jewels. Then we wrapped up day 1 with a media pitch session followed by a cocktail hour and a beautiful dinner at the resort.

Day 2 was jam packed with lots of learning through speaker sessions, a fabulous southern lunch, and a mentor roundtable ending with dinner out on the town. We dined at Halyards Restaurant and it was to die for! I highly recommend the Georgia taco and the Virginia baked oysters! We returned to the resort for a nightcap hosted by Kendra Scott and let’s just say we had a grand time!

And Friday we brunched under the white tents on the lawn of the resort with Wake Up Coffee and bites from Halyards, Hop’s Chicken and more!

It was hard to leave beautiful Sea Island after such a whirlwind few days, but I left with my tank full and lots of excitement about implemented everything I learned!

Here are some shots of our time at Sea Island! Enjoy…

The grounds of the Sea Island Resorts were impeccable and flawless. Every single inch of the buildings and the grounds were thoughtfully planned and perfected.

The interiors were equally exquisite.

Our first lunch was at the Beach Club and it was definitely my favorite setting out of all our meals!

I really have no words for the grandeur of the interior of The Cloister. Absolutely breathtaking with the sunlight streaming in as the sun set over the water!

Could you just die over those fresh flowers and greenery?!?!

The sessions and mentor workshops were held in this beautiful ballroom! My mentor was Lauren Hopkins of LBH and Company, a boutique PR agency, and I enjoyed picking her brain about all things PR related. The mentor sessions weren’t part of the scheduling when I attended the Summit in 2015 for the first time and I think it was a really great addition to the lineup.

The speakers that graced the stage here ranged from PR executives to magazine editors and even creatives like Gray Malin and Libbie Summers!

Speaking of food (oh, right, we weren’t speaking of food) can you believe this lunch spread! And those sammies were filled with good ‘ol southern egg salad, pimiento cheese and fried green tomatoes. You can’t ask for better than that!

And how adorable are those sweet Georgia napkins from Cat Studio?!?!

Check out the exterior of the resort and of course the perfectly groomed grass and palm trees! The ideal location for evening sipping and shopping!

The creative bites from Halyards Restaurant at the farewell brunch were drool worthy as well as the barbecue, pimiento cheese, honey and more!

And here is my farewell (or should I say hello to a re-inspired blog life) outfit and I thought it fit the bill.

A HUGE thank you to Whitney and Cheri for creating another amazing Summit! I left Sea Island with rekindled creativity and a renewed sense of direction and I can’t wait to see what what this year holds for Simple Stylings! See you at the next Summit!

Cheers!
