Hi Friends! I hope y’all had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend!
I’m going to start this post by warning the guys that this one’s for the ladies! You probably don’t have a lot of jewelry to organize so I’ll give you a pass to skip right over this one in your inbox if you like :)
This is not some amazing DIY project (I had several up my sleeve but nothing was really speaking to me) but I have to share when I find a great accessory, especially when I have a thinking outside of the box moment.
I had to return something at HomeGoods today and of course I can’t leave without looking around. There were a lot of new finds including this awesome, white squid (octopus?). I was drawn to it because it fits our coastal style and the white color gave it a modern feel. Then I noticed the curved tentacles and it all clicked…jewelry holder.
And as luck would have it the squid was only $19.99, the same amount of what I was returning!
Until today my jewelry has been overflowing in a mirrored jewelry box that I bought years ago. I love the jewelry box and I actually remember saving up to buy it from the Bombay Company because it was a splurge at the time. I definitely plan on keeping the box and using it somewhere else in the house but it wasn’t functioning the way I needed it to.
I have also seen lots of pictures lately of people displaying their jewelry almost as art pieces and I thought it would be nice to get the jewelry box off my bathroom countertop. I don’t have any fancy jewelry but I do have quite a bit of costume jewelry if you will. I had bought a thread holder like this to possibly DIY a jewelry organizer but I just couldn’t get excited about it.
I couldn’t wait to get home and hang the squid up to see if it would work and I really like the way it turned out.
I am going to shop around our house to find a small dishes to hold my rings and earrings but I’m happy to recover some of my counter space. I was even able to purge some of my old jewelry in the process which is always a plus!
So what do you think? Have you come up with alternative uses for accessories in your home?
I hope you enjoyed this fun little post and I’ll see you in a couple days for an office progress update!
