Two posts from me in two days, man, aren’t y’all lucky! I know I am just adding to your inbox of more stuff to read right :)
But…today is Wednesday, week #2 of the Wednesday Reads Series, and you aren’t going to want to miss this read or this cause.
Remember when I went to the Allume Conference in October? Okay, maybe not, but I shared about the Sole Hope organization earlier when I blogged about our shoe cutting party and how that has become a part of my heart and a constant prayer for Asher and her team.
The Exodus Road is another organization that gripped me with its story.
The Exodus Road is a nonprofit coalition dedicated to ending child sex slavery through investigation and rescue. The group was founded by Laura and Matt Parker, a husband and wife team, who found themselves unexpectedly living in SouthEast Asia going undercover in brothels to rescue young girls from the wrath of slavery.
The book is written from Laura’s perspective as her family stumbles into this world of slavery and her husband, Matt, teams up with authorities to conduct raids of local brothels. The book is an easy read and it tugs at your heart strings as Laura struggles with watching her husband put himself in danger every day while she is raising their children in a foreign country for this calling that God has put on their hearts. Their love, faith and incredible sacrifice are inspiring.
Laura’s patience and prayers as she awaits her husband’s return each day and their ability to create routines in their everyday life so they can survive the emotions of their work is truly astounding. This book lets you peek into the unfamiliar and unbelievable world of human trafficking and how The Exodus Road was born. You can read more about The Exodus Road story and everything they are doing to rescue girls from this horrific life of slavery here.
I did not want to put the book down and the cool thing is I didn’t have to. When I finished the book I went to The Exodus Road website and their Instagram feed and I can continue to see details of everything they are doing from rescue stats to pictures and videos. The book ended but the story continues and what an amazing story it is!
If you want to check it out you can purchase the book from Amazon here…
