Blogger Styling Home Tours: Favorite Room Edition
Happy Hump Day Friends! And what a day it is!
Have you guys been following all the amazing favorite rooms so far this week? They are just blowing me away! If you are coming from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs, welcome! Sarah’s style is incredible and so unique, right?!?!
A huge thanks to Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co. for hosting yet another amazing home tour! She is the best and has the most amazingly eclectic style. Her home is truly one of a kind so definitely check her out!
I’m glad you’re here and I can’t wait to share my room with you! This room has been a bit of a work in progress because naturally my space takes a back seat to other rooms in the house. Well no more! Mama’s going to enjoy MY space now :)
In our home the whole upstairs level is my master suite. The bedroom, master bath, closet, and office space. I feel blessed to have this much room all my own but I haven’t given it the attention it needs to be a relaxing space.
I finished my office area a couple months ago and I’ve been working in the bedroom slowly since.
You probably saw my new paint post a couple weeks ago and that was just the beginning of this mini makeover. It was just the push I needed to make a few changes so I can really enjoy my space.
I essentially had zero money {okay like $20} for this makeover so I had to get really creative and use lots of things I already had.
The inspiration for the basket wall was the giant tray from Target that I had coveted for so long and my sweet mama bought me for my birthday. I debated on where to put it for a long time and realized this would be the perfect place but I didn’t want it to stand alone. I found the additional baskets from the Habitat Restore and they ranged in price from $.25-$2.50!
I’m totally in love with this basket wall, even more so than I thought I would be. The texture reminds me of the sweetgrass baskets from the market in Charleston, SC and embodies so much of my coastal style and influence!
The picture ledge accent wall is another easy DIY that I created but I’m bummed because the light and the angles of my room just don’t make it possible to get a good shot. I free handed the nautical coordinates of some of our important and favorite places ~ Moscow, London, Charleston, etc ~ with a gold sharpie paint pen.
I love the way it turned out and it’s so meaningful to us (and coastal) but I hate you can’t really tell what it really looks like in person :(
Oh well, moving on…
I built these picture ledges ~ another project from scrap wood in my garage ~ and they are the perfect place for some fun art!
I love the dream printable from The Blissful Bee. The anchor was made for me by a dear friend.
The canvas painting is my first attempt at abstract art. The pom pom trim was from the Target dollar bin.
The simple details are what make me love the room so much. These roses are from our backyard and so is the hydrangea.
I wasn’t feeling the brushed nickel look anymore so I painted these Ikea lamp bases gold to be consistent with the rest of the accessories in the room
In a way I don’t think these Ikea pillows that I have fit in the space but on the other hand I like the bold affect they have on the otherwise neutral and muted color palette. And they’re super comfy so they stay!
My wire faux taxidermy was a gift and was originally all white but I thought he would stand out more if his antlers were gold.
What do you think of him with a little bling?
If you’ve visited my blog before you probably know I have a coffee station in my master bedroom and it just got an upgrade! I bought a grungy old white campaign chest off craigslist about a year ago and finally painted it this fun coral color.
I dipped into my stash of HomeGoods wrapping paper to line the drawers.
I also picked this star up the other day from the Habitat Restore and I think it fits perfectly on top of my pile of HGTV mags.
This black and white photo of my beautiful mama is one of my favorite pieces from the many gallery walls in our home.
I think the pop of coral balances out the neutral room and bold pillows
I’d love to know what you think! The room is simple but that’s part of why it is so refreshing…and I barely had to open my pocket book which makes it even better!
That’s a wrap for today y’all but make sure you head over to Jen Rizzo’s blog first thing tomorrow morning for Thursday’s tour kickoff!

Hello- I know this is an older post but I had 2 questions… I was wondering how you hung your baskets? And 2) did you make over the dresser yourself? Thanks! Oh and love your bedroom! I have the same IKEA pillows on my couch. :)
Hello! I just came across your blog when I stumbled upon your feature in the Work it Wednesday Link party and I am so happy I found you (both)! So awesome you have a coffee station in your master – love it!! I am only a few months into this whole “blogging” thing and an having so much fun! I especially love finding new blogs to follow & gain inspiration from… Love the room and can’t wait to see more… ~Rachael

Aww thanks Amy, you’re the best! I really appreciate the feature!!!
Summer, I love your new master bedroom color! I saw in your other post you said you painted it Valspar Filtered Shade. I really like how you mixed warm accents with the light gray, and the colorful accent furniture in your bedroom look so good with it! I’d love to feature this on my paint color blog, Involving Color. Let me know if you’re interested!
Thanks so much Jena and I’d love for you to feature it! Thanks!
Hi Summer! I just wanted to let you know that this post is being featured as part of Link It or Lump It tomorrow. Thank you so much for participating in our party – you can stop by my blog tomorrow morning to see your feature and grab a button. Have a great night!

Your style and photography are flawless. I LOVE the basket wall (pinning). So glad to find your blog and follow along. I found you at Best of the Nest link-up!!
Thank you so much Leslie! I’m so glad you’re here!!
I love this room, Summer! The baskets above the bed are gorgeous and the coral dresser is the perfect hit of fresh color!! We’re featuring you tomorrow at Work it Wednesday- thanks for sharing it!
~Krista from the happy housie
Wow, thanks Krista! I’m truly humbled! Have a great night!
You know I love this, girl… you knocked it out of the park! I checked back and the round trays aren’t on the website anymore :( I missed out. Thanks for linking up with us at Best of the Nest!
Thanks Jennifer! That’s bummer the trays aren’t available :(
I love the bedroom. Paint always makes a world of difference. I can’t believe you made the photo ledges. That’s just what I’m looking for. You are so talented. Pottery Barn wants like $70 for a 3 or 4 foot ledge like that. I need to learn how to make those!
Thanks Carol Jane!!! They were real easy to make and I’ll post a tutorial at some point but I know Target has some (you can seem them in my Labor Day sales post) and I saw some at Ikea today too that were affordable! Have a great weekend!
I love the basket wall over your bed so much! I never would think to put them there but it is just perfect. The whole room is so happy, I would want to spend my whole day in here :)
Thanks so much Jennifer!
Such a cozy retreat for you! Love the coffee station too! xoxo
Thanks Kristin!
Beautiful as always my friend!
Thanks so much Kayla!
this looks terrific summer!!! what a great idea with the baskets. i have that tray from target too (i also stalked it forever and finally got it as a mother’s day gift!) but sadly, mine has become a catch-all for paper debris. as our friend grace would say, no bueno! (and loving the poms- i just did that on my fireplace!! #greatminds) you did a great job and this is definitely looking like a great place to relax. xo!
Thanks so much Laura! Yep, I’m a freak for any kind of pom pom, tassel or garland :)
Loving the baskets…and your coffee station:-) Hugs!
Thanks Aniko!!

Thanks so much Caitlin! I can’t live without my coffee :)
Love your room – you have such a fresh, casual style! I think my favorite part is the basket wall (looks fabulous!) but I also love how you have your coffee station in your bedroom – the closer you can get to the morning caffeine, the better! :)

Summer- talk to me about what you use to change the paint the hardware on the wall lamps gold. I am finding it hard to find item with the gold accents I want at reasonable prices. This would be a great answer to this issue. Any help would be appreciated! And thank you for sharing your new gorgeous bedroom.
Thanks Christine! I spray painted it with my favorite spray paint and it worked perfectly! I’ll text you the brand! Shoot me what fixtures you like and I’ll take a look! Definitely an option.
