I’m glad you’re here and I can’t wait to share my room with you! This room has been a bit of a work in progress because naturally my space takes a back seat to other rooms in the house. Well no more! Mama’s going to enjoy MY space now :)

In our home the whole upstairs level is my master suite. The bedroom, master bath, closet, and office space. I feel blessed to have this much room all my own but I haven’t given it the attention it needs to be a relaxing space.

I finished my office area a couple months ago and I’ve been working in the bedroom slowly since.

You probably saw my new paint post a couple weeks ago and that was just the beginning of this mini makeover. It was just the push I needed to make a few changes so I can really enjoy my space.

I essentially had zero money {okay like $20} for this makeover so I had to get really creative and use lots of things I already had.

The inspiration for the basket wall was the giant tray from Target that I had coveted for so long and my sweet mama bought me for my birthday. I debated on where to put it for a long time and realized this would be the perfect place but I didn’t want it to stand alone. I found the additional baskets from the Habitat Restore and they ranged in price from $.25-$2.50!

I’m totally in love with this basket wall, even more so than I thought I would be. The texture reminds me of the sweetgrass baskets from the market in Charleston, SC and embodies so much of my coastal style and influence!

The picture ledge accent wall is another easy DIY that I created but I’m bummed because the light and the angles of my room just don’t make it possible to get a good shot. I free handed the nautical coordinates of some of our important and favorite places ~ Moscow, London, Charleston, etc ~ with a gold sharpie paint pen.

I love the way it turned out and it’s so meaningful to us (and coastal) but I hate you can’t really tell what it really looks like in person :(

Oh well, moving on…

I built these picture ledges ~ another project from scrap wood in my garage ~ and they are the perfect place for some fun art!

I love the dream printable from The Blissful Bee. The anchor was made for me by a dear friend.

The canvas painting is my first attempt at abstract art. The pom pom trim was from the Target dollar bin.

The simple details are what make me love the room so much. These roses are from our backyard and so is the hydrangea.

I wasn’t feeling the brushed nickel look anymore so I painted these Ikea lamp bases gold to be consistent with the rest of the accessories in the room

IMG_9052

In a way I don’t think these Ikea pillows that I have fit in the space but on the other hand I like the bold affect they have on the otherwise neutral and muted color palette. And they’re super comfy so they stay!

My wire faux taxidermy was a gift and was originally all white but I thought he would stand out more if his antlers were gold.

What do you think of him with a little bling?

If you’ve visited my blog before you probably know I have a coffee station in my master bedroom and it just got an upgrade! I bought a grungy old white campaign chest off craigslist about a year ago and finally painted it this fun coral color.

I dipped into my stash of HomeGoods wrapping paper to line the drawers.

I also picked this star up the other day from the Habitat Restore and I think it fits perfectly on top of my pile of HGTV mags.

This black and white photo of my beautiful mama is one of my favorite pieces from the many gallery walls in our home.

I think the pop of coral balances out the neutral room and bold pillows

I’d love to know what you think! The room is simple but that’s part of why it is so refreshing…and I barely had to open my pocket book which makes it even better!

That’s a wrap for today y’all but make sure you head over to Jen Rizzo’s blog first thing tomorrow morning for Thursday’s tour kickoff!

  9. I love the bedroom. Paint always makes a world of difference. I can’t believe you made the photo ledges. That’s just what I’m looking for. You are so talented. Pottery Barn wants like $70 for a 3 or 4 foot ledge like that. I need to learn how to make those!
