It’s several days after Mother’s Day but sometimes it takes me a little more time than normal to process certain things. Life is busy and it’s hard to find the quiet space needed to reflect on and appreciate those in our lives.
Although we parent a little differently (she’s much more patient and compassionate than me) my mom is my HERO. When we think of the term hero we often think of the daddies but for me – as a mom – it’s her. Motherhood is hard even if all the things seem to be going as planned. And to keep those kiddos alive, much less healthy and happy, is a great feat. My mom did all of those things and more with grace, an unparalleled gentleness and endless love and support.
I’m not the best with the spoken word, luckily God blessed me a little more in the written department, but it’s important for me to express my feelings. I wish all the mom’s out there knew her and could model her example. There’s clearly something to be said for demonstrating and truly embracing the meaning of motherhood. My grandmother is the same way – gentle in spirit, loving in nature.
I write this as a thank you letter. From your daughter and your grandson. If I can pass on even a piece of what you taught me and how you raised me he will be blessed. Mom. Mommy. YaYa. Best Friend. Woman of God.
P.S. Don’t worry Dad, I have equal amounts of love for you! xoxo
