In past experiences week 2 has always been the slowest and that proved true again! I was able to find, order and have this small armoire delivered from my favorite online consignment site, Move Loot. You can read about my new sofa that also came from them here! I’m a huge fan so make sure to check them out and see if there is one in your area.
I love the size of this piece because my son can reach all of the drawers! The wood and faux bamboo is so warm but I can also see it in a glossy navy or kelly green! What do you think? I also love it because there is not much room for clutter like the hutch we had in here before. I promise the knick knacks on the top are coming down!
Little man is not to happy about this though, I went to sell the old one and he was totally bummed so it’s still sitting in our garage. Who knew he would be so sentimental over a dresser :)
There hasn’t been much change in the rest of the room yet other than removing things from the walls, etc. It gets worse before it gets better right?
I’ve decided to go a different route for the lighting. As much as I love those Target lamps, I found this picture from One Kings Lane and my son got super excited about these cord style lights.
Also, my parents have a surf board in storage from our old beach house that they are going to let us have borrow so I was able to knock $100 off the budget! Doing a happy dance over here right now!!
My Itsums.com is loving me right now because I’m officially UNDER budget y’all! I can’t stand to see that negative sign lol! You can find my detailed board here if you want to see my notes and find the product links.
Here is a glimpse of the furniture I’m inheriting from my little sis! Do you remember these from the 1990s? I do because we had them! Well, they are going to get a major overhaul…think upholstered and mid century modern! I’ll let your imagination do the rest.
I finished little man’s mini playroom makeover today and I can’t wait to share it with you. It’s a really fun space that he just loves! I promise kitchen updates next week too!
I think that dresser in Kelly green would look great!! Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with the furniture. Karolina
Thanks Karolina! Me too!
Those lamps look like so much fun! I completely understand why he fell for those! Can’t wait to see this “big boy” space complete.
Thanks so much Brenna! I definitely need to have you over sometime once it’s all put back together :)
Love it
Thanks Julia!
Excited to see your progress Summer! I have to admit, I was sad to miss my 4th ORC but happy to follow along! Our little guy is super sentimental with everything so I understand! Love your inspiration boards!!
It’s crazy how sentimental they are Kendra but so cute! I definitely debated whether I was going to do the ORC this time but this is our last big space to finish so I thought why not lol!
This room is going to look great! I am also redoing my boys’ bedroom and was having fun figuring out lighting as well. With kids bedrooms you can go a little more fun with it.
Totally agree Emily! I love having fun in their rooms! Can’t wait to see yours!
Both my kids get super sentimental over their things too! I don’t get it. Their sweet little sensitive hearts =) I adore the new dresser and its drawers on the inside are perfect! Love it all!
Aren’t they funny Kyla! I’m trying to de-sensitize myself from all of the ‘things’! Thanks girl!
It is a tough call on whether or not to paint the armoire! On the one hand, it’s nice to let some natural wood in after all these years of painted furniture, but kelly green (maybe with modern brass pulls even?!) would be so dreamy. Either way, the room is going to be great…and yay for under budget!!!
So tough Laura! I’m loving the natural wood. We’ll see how the rest of the room comes along and then I’ll probably decide last minute lol!
Congrats on finding a piece you love! The ikea bed you have ALMOST made it’s way into my toddler bedroom, but a neighbor gave me a bunk bed that’s also getting a make over!
Thanks so much Amy! The Ikea bed has really served us well and he LOVES it so it’s probably going to make it’s way into our playroom for future sleepovers :)
I agree this week seemed slow. Although I got some necessary stuff done. none of it was fun. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the furniture!
Thanks so much Denise! Here’s to progress!
Love the way this room is going and the armoire is fabulous.
Thanks so much Marty!
Oh the pine bed…let me know if you want a twin version to go with it :) And I spy Hampy!!
Summer that bamboo armoire is beyond words. Amazing find!!!!! I like it in all it’s wood glory but I do think navy on that would be awesome too!!! I am laughing about your headboard and nightstand because my son has the matching dresser that I am selling to fund new purchases for his room! I think every home in America had a piece of that line at some point! Ha. Your room is coming along so nicely!
That armoire is amazing, i love the drawers on the inside. I had similar ’90’s furniture as well. ;)
