One Room Challenge: Big Boy Room Week 4

on October 29, 2015 in DIY Projects/ Home Decor/ One Room Challenge 4

ORC Guest Black

It’s Week 4 and I’m sad to report that I’m still WAY behind! If you read about my bed fiasco last week you know that has really set me back. I finally decided on a bed but it’s going to set the budget back a bit and I’m having a hard time swallowing that. I do have some really exciting news about a new mattress that I’ll be spilling the beans about next week!

You can catch up on Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 and also head to Calling It Home to see all of the participants and linkups!

I think we are going to go with this Ikea bed but I have a fun hack in store for it!

I think I’ve decided to stick with white bedding (probably some we already have) but we’re going to DIY some Shibori pillows like these from Lucy of Craftsberry Bush via eHow.

The kits for the new lights from Color Cord Company just arrived and I can’t wait to assemble them!

The punch list has changed slightly and I haven’t checked much off but I feel a productive week coming up! This week I’ve got to buy the bed and doctor it up, install the lights, DIY the Shibori pillows., and hang the artwork. Who wants to be I’ll get all that done huh???

Here is the 6 week punch list:

  1. Replace dresser
  2. Get the bed and nightstand from my sister – FAIL – buy new bed
  3. Find artwork for over the bed.
  4. Find lighting and install.
  5. Buy and hang new bookshelves.
  6. DIY existing mirror – this might be changing but still using an existing mirror
  7. Buy new bedding – going to use existing bedding but DIY shibori pillows
  8. Accessorize.
  9. Paint room (this is still under major negotiation, me = yes, him = big fat NO).

As you can see the new bed sent me over budget slightly but I took a few accessory items off to account for it. You have to wait and see how it all pans out! You can access my budget board complete with prices, links and my notes here.

Have you guys used Itsums yet? If so I would love to know how it’s helped you!

It’s almost the weekend y’all and I can’t wait to go Trick-or-Treating with my little pirate! What are your planse?

Cheers

I love how the room is coming together! Blue and white are my favorites! I hope to do the ORC one day as a link participant but I would have to seriously sweet talk my husband. I don’t know how you all do it with kids! Can’t wait to see the progress next week!
