Packing Guide For A Creative Conference + 8 Complete Outfits Ideas

Happy, happy Tuesday! I hope you guys had a great weekend! I’m SO excited I can hardly stand it because in a few hours I’ll be on my way to Sea Island, Georgia for The Southern C Summit 2017 conference. I could seriously jump out of my skin right now but I’m trying to contain my excitement!

My little man has been sick with the flu all weekend so the majority of it was spent with him watching TV in my bed and me packing, cleaning and writing blog posts! Nothing like being confined to the house to get some work done. And lucky for you I was able to put together and photograph all of my outfits for the conference including a few bonus ones!

All of these pieces have become part of my capsule wardrobe that I’m still working on so you’ll see pants, shoes and accessories being swapped around a lot. Most of these pieces are neutrals which allow me to add fun jewelry, bags and accessories. It also makes it easy to swap pieces in and out to create different looks.

Please note that I don’t buy new clothes on a regular basis (hence the capsule wardrobe part) so unfortunately a lot of the items here have sold out. But I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find very similar items so hopefully you can check out what I found and gain some inspiration for when you are out and about shopping!

DAY 1: Travel

Today I’ll be traveling (for 5 1/2 hours!) so I want to be cute but still comfy. I’m wearing these worn-in distressed jeans, a simple striped tunic and my new favorite Chuck Taylor’s! I’m so happy I found these new Shoreline Chuck’s because I am 5’7″ and wear a size 9 shoe, so when I wear casual tennis shoes I feel like they make my feet look huge! But these are a less bulky version of the classic Chuck’s and the heel is elastic so it’s very forgiving!

DAY 2: Welcome day

Wednesday is the conference kick off so after the welcome gathering there will be afternoon sessions then we’ll head off to a sip and shop then to dinner at Rainbow Island. First impressions are important and I feel good in this comfortable but pretty lace blouse. I included another outfit for the evening in case I decide I want to change for dinner.

DAY 3: Lots of learning

Thursday is a full day of sessions so I want to make sure I’m comfortable. I chose small-heeled booties and a blush bomber jacket so I don’t freeze in the conference rooms.

This bell-sleeved dress is what I will change into for dinner out with my friend Cristin (The Southern Style Guide) and hopefully some other new friends at The Farmer & The Larder!

DAY 4: Farewell + travel

Friday is such a fun day although I know it will be bitter sweet leaving Sea Island. There will be a farewell brunch at the Sea Island Beach Club and I thought this adorable Bon Voyage sweatshirt would be perfectly preppy paired with the striped pencil skirt! This will also be plenty comfortable for the ride home.

BONUS OUTFITS

I always like to bring a couple of extra outfits when I travel just in case there is an itinerary change or one of the outfits I planned just didn’t work for the occasion. My overalls are always a solid choice and below are the black jeans again with a bell sleeve top.

I snagged this little number on sale the other day so I’m going to bring it along too just in case. I don’t think there will be an occasion for it but you never know…

SHOES

Here is my shoe selection that will be along for the ride. Most of these are from Target, believe it or not, so they aren’t available but I linked the similar options below.

Row 1: Black wedge booties // Stacked heel peep toe booties // Converse Chuck Taylor’s

Row 2: Nude wedge sandal // Leopard print pumps // Bootie

BAGS

I think bags are one of the most important things to bring on a trip, particularly a conference. At events like this you always end up taking home some goodies so I like to have a decent sized tote with me. This black reversible purse is a new purchase and I love it! It goes with everything and it’s the perfect size! I also like to have a clutch or and a small purse for evenings out.

EXTRAS

I also rounded up a few important things that you might not think about. Business cards and a notebook are obviously a must but I also like to carry a whole punch and ring to keep the business cards together that I collect. I also will write notes about a person/business that I meet on their cards.

Don’t forget your fingernail polish in case you need a touch up! And most importantly a mini bottle of Prosecco to toast the event and loose a few nerves :) I bought two for me and Cristin to pop the minute we arrive!
