Family Day at the Davidson Farmer’s Market

Summer will soon give way to fall and sunflowers will be replaced by mums, but here in NC we’re able to enjoy farmer’s markets almost year round. It’s one of our favorite weekend activities. Wardrobes may change as well as the type of produce available but it’s always a great time to enjoy popsicles, running into friends and just being outdoors.

We love to get up, have a lazy breakfast then make our way to the sunny Davidson Farmer’s Market. When mornings are too hot for coffee, especially for me, you know it’s been a hot summer. I grab an ice cold Diet Coke, little man gets change from his bank for a King of Pops popsicle and off we go. I love the fresh meats, produce and of course the crepe truck. But let’s be honest, I really go for the flowers. #givemeallthebeautifulbouquetsIcancarry

My peplum top from Nordstrom is no longer available but I’ve linked some similar items here! These gladiator sandals are still available and have been my favorite summer shoe! You should definitely snag them for next year! Click the images below to shop.

I’m still working on my capsule wardrobe and white tee’s and denim shorts are two main staples. I mean what’s more classic and stylish than a breezy white tee, a giant bouquet of sunflowers and a Diet Coke??

My little man turned 8 this summer and is WAY too cool for pictures! It’s rare we’re able to capture a candid moment without a silly face, scowl or him just running away altogether :)

Did I mention how magnificent these sunflowers are? Such a bold, statement-making flower.

These are the type of moments that I cherish. Strolling lazily through the market, not worried about time or busy schedules. Just hanging with my little man. Stopping to play on the playground and look at the science booth with no agenda. Something so simple recharges the soul and fills up our “gas tanks” that were emptied throughout the busy week. The Diet Coke helps a little too ;)

  1. I love sunflowers and markets! The perfect weekend combination. You’re so lucky, I’m in northern Ontario – our Markets end before christmas, and have to be indoors.
