A DIY Baby Shower: A Southern Gentleman
Hi. Hello. Are you there? Okay good, whew. I hope you had a great weekend!
I’m finishing up a few projects for the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours favorite room edition but I wanted to share with you a DIY baby shower that my girls and I threw for a dear friend last weekend.
It’s always so wonderful to honor a soon-to-be mama and and it’s even more special to share in the preparation and celebration with some of your closest friends. Having multiple hostesses also makes a DIY shower possible!
***make sure to make it to the end of the post to watch the pregnancy reveal video***
The theme was a southern brunch for the little southern gentleman that we can’t wait to meet. These gorgeous ladies (mostly them) created these awesome invites, food tags, and incredible tablescape.
We each made a dish and pitched in with decorations. My contribution was the mini quiches which I didn’t get a great picture of but I’ll be posting a recipe soon!
These honey ham biscuits were to die for!
No event or space would be complete without a chalkboard :) and this bible verse is perfect.
The most fun DIY part was the painted mason jars filled with farmers market flowers that we gave as party favors.
We gathered during our monthly GNO night and had a blast painting these babies. We used acrylic paint made for painting on glass and painted two coats on each jar and distressed them slightly with a fingernail file. We wrapped twine around the tops of the jars added cute tags.
We were a little worried at first but I think they turned out great and our guests were thrilled that they got to take one home.
And isn’t she a gorgeous mama?!?!?!
And she got some awesome loot too. How cute and preppy is this tiny seersucker outfit?
As I was writing this post {which was only supposed to a fun little post about a baby shower} I started thinking about these ladies – my friends. I think when we’re younger we love having friends but we don’t value them the way we do as we get older. I realize now how critical it is to have solid relationships with other women {or men} that lift you up and carry you when you struggle.
This group of women threw me a surprise baby shower when they found out I was bringing my son home. These women greeted us at the airport after a horrendous 16+ hour trip from Moscow when I arrived home with little man. This group gets together every month to ask how I’m doing and what is going on in my life. I just hope that I do that in return for each of them.
I couldn’t be more blessed and thankful that I have these all ‘grown up’ gals in my life! And wee couldn’t be more thrilled for you LE as you well know from the video below! We love you!
My friend’s sweet baby girl was in for a rude awakening from our screams! Bless her heart!
