    DIY Scrap Fabric Window Treatment

Published: Jul 25, 2014 · Modified: Jan 28, 2023 by Simple Stylings · This post may contain affiliate links · 12 Comments

    TGIF friends!

My poor babe has been sick most of the week so I'm a little stir crazy to say the least. I'm ready to get this weekend started!!! How about you guys?

So today I'm bringing you the most random little DIY ever. An accident in laziness really!

A couple of weeks ago I revealed my office makeover and there are several DIY's I want to share. As the title implies this project was completely random and seriously born out of my indecision and laziness. So let me explain.

The window in my office had boring old white blinds (like every other window in my house) and I wanted to change them out. I'm so tired of white builder blinds and I wanted something cool but that wouldn't cost much.

I thought about bamboo shades at first because the wood would really look nice against the white walls. Then I thought I'd try my hand at a DIY fabric roll-up shade. Then I got tired and bored couldn't decide.

The office was almost finished and I found myself out of money and with no window treatment. What I did have was leftovers from the infamous Ikea dot fabric that I used on my office chair and bulletin board. I know, I know, I went a little crazy but desperate times call for desperate measures!

This is almost comical to explain but I literally took scissors, made a small cut in the fabric about about 2 inches wide and then ripped the pieces apart. The fabric tore easily so I ripped as many as I needed to cover the small window. I had a small tension rod leftover from another project that I think cost about $2 from Walmart. Once I had all the pieces I needed I tied the ends in knots around the tension rod.

I used my spray painted gold scissors that you can read about here :)

The great thing is my office is flooded with light during the day so you hardly even notice the dots. See below!

Seriously that's it and I think it looks kinda cool! I guess my laziness paid off!!!

    What do you think?
