Peanut Butter and Honey Healthy Fruit Dip
Healthy snack foods are always hard to come up with especially after a few weeks into the school year. And if my little guy doesn’t get a snack every day after school there is hell to pay! So instead of getting stuck in a rut after only a few weeks in, I decided to search around and try out some new snack recipes.
This peanut butter honey dip is by far the best one I’ve tried and we’ve already made it three or four times! We even brought it to a neighborhood pool party this weekend! It’s so easy to make and I buy the ingredients every time I go to the grocery store so I always have it on hand. Our school is a nut-free school so he can’t take it in his lunchbox but it’s great to pull right out of the fridge when we get home. At least I feel like he’s getting a tasty treat that is healthy and lower in sugar than other store-bought fruit dips.
I found this recipe from Cooking Classy that inspired me to try this type of dip but I changed the proportions and the type of yogurt to fit our needs. We like ours a little less yogurt-y and we used plain yogurt instead of vanilla! There are so many ways it could be tweaked! I would like to try it with almond butter next. Here is our version:
Ingredients
5 ounces of plain, nonfat-Greek yogurt (or one 5.3 oz individual container)
1/3 cup of peanut butter
1 tablespoon of honey
Directions
Mix the ingredients together and serve chilled or at room temperature, either way it’s delicious!
We love it on strawberries, bananas and apples the best, but we’ve also paired it with blackberries and grapes! I promise you’re kiddos will love you for it! If you want to make it extra healthy just use your go-to organic ingredients and it will taste just as great!
Cheers!
