Client Files: A Moody Blue + Rose Guest Bedroom Design

Happy Thursday guys! I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!

I’m so happy this week has gotten off to a great start as far as my posting schedule goes :) If you read the June favorites post I promised I was going to get back on track!

I feel like I haven’t shared a new client space design with you in a long time and I’m REALLY pumped about this one! My client and friend has really great taste and she loves the moody dark wall color trend for her guest bedroom. She wants to use pops of rose and brass accents which are the perfect compliment to the deep blue walls.

This is one of our favorite inspiration images.

Here is another example of a deep blue wall color.

I love how the white juju hat stands out against the blue walls and adds lots of texture to the room.

I had to include this beautiful space from Studio McGee, one of my favorite design firms!

We’re loving this gorgeous color palette with the different shades of blue, light and medium rose with a little gray thrown in for good measure!

My client loves brass accents too (yay!) and we also found this color palette that shows how a metallic would look in the mix.

Here are the before pictures of the room! It’s a great space with really nice light, we just need to bring it up to date a little :) And when it’s a guest bedroom sometimes it can be a little easier for clients to take a few risks like the bold wall color choice.

Our top 3 wall color choices are (from left to right): Gentlemen’s Gray – Benjamin Moore, Dark Night – Sherwin Williams and Hague Blue – Farrow & Ball.

Here is the checklist for the room:

  1. Paint the walls
  2. Layer a new rug on top of the existing carpet
  3. Replace the ceiling fan with a more modern version
  4. Replace the dresser and mirror with a pretty storage piece and modern round mirror
  5. Replace the current bed with a statement wooden bed
  6. Bring in neutral linens
  7. Accent with brass and art
  8. Add texture with the juju hat

And here is the design I created for her to use as a reference for the makeover process:

So what do you guys think about the design? Wall color? This is not going to be a real expensive makeover and is easily something you could do at home! And if you didn’t have to buy new furniture it would be even cheaper!

I’d love to know your feedback and if you have any experience with these three paint colors! You can also follow our guest bedroom Pinterest board for even more more ideas.

And if you guys have any design needs I’ll be opening up a few spots for eDesign this month! Feel free to email me at [email protected] for more information on our online design packages.

Cheers!

  1. I really like those color matches, and the big flowers are so trendly. I particularly like the first image; I’m just putting together a collection of floral elements for my decor. Look at this beautiful flower rug :) Good luke!
