Lowe’s Spring Makeover: Design Update

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a great weekend! Outside of a little rain is was a beautiful one here in Charlotte!

I wanted to pop in and give you a little Lowe’s Spring Makeover design update! I’m so excited for this project and as the date gets closer (about 2 weeks now!) the more excited and a little stressed I get. I’ve never worked on designing a space without physically being able to see it so that’s been an interesting challenge in itself. And I don’t think I’ve ever managed a project installation of this magnitude in one day, but I’m confident in the design and our team so I know it’s going to be great!

Just to catch you up a bit, you can read the announcement post here and the latest update here. I’m working with the Glenns, a wonderful young couple who have the cutest little row home in Alexandria, VA. The patio and backyard is the perfect blank slate for a hip entertaining space and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

We will be furnishing and styling the existing patio, planting shrubs and other plants to outline the yard and patio, and of course hanging lots of string lights! Here are my design boards for the patio and landscaping. We will keep it somewhat traditional, sticking with the classic D.C. style of boxwoods, window boxes, symmetrical pavers and with pea gravel and some colorful blooms. But we’ll be adding a few eclectic, boho elements like the wire lanterns and chair, pouf, fun pillows and colorful planters. I think it’s going to be a great mix of traditional and modern.

I LOVE this potting bench from Lowe’s that we are going to turn into a fun bar area and here are a few ideas I have in mind!

Down Time:

I’m also super excited that my mom and son are going to piggy back on the trip with me so we’ll be headed up early to do some sight seeing in D.C. and Old Town Alexandria! There will definitely be a Road Trip Reality coming!

And if that’s not all, my sweet friend Michelle of Iron & Twine is coming along to make sure I don’t lose my mind and add her talent to the project – DOUBLE TROUBLE! If you don’t know Michelle make sure to check out her blog! She just bought a new house where there will be lots of DIY happening and has the most adorable twins you ever did see! Thanks in advance Michelle for all of your help!

That’s all for now! Make sure to follow along on Instagram and Snapchat (simplestylings) for more behind the scenes!

Cheers!
