Happy Hump Day friends!
Okay y’all, I think I’m finally back on track and life has calmed down a little…at least for the moment! I hope you’re having a great week so far!
I’m excited to share the reveal of this minimal yet cozy bedroom that I designed for Kevin. If you missed any progress reports you can find the original design post HERE and the progress update HERE.
We were starting from scratch in this room, from the new mattress to accessories, and we wanted it to feel bright, modern and most importantly – CLUTTER FREE! I definitely think we achieved that and I’m pretty sure the client is a happy camper! :)
This was the final design board that we agreed on and I think we stayed pretty true to the design.

When we first started the design process we knew that Kevin would be replacing all of the furniture and the old mattress in his room. Solay, a new mattress company with a local presence here in Charlotte just launched and asked us to try their hybrid mattress and we jumped on the chance. The hybrid mattress combines foam and spring technologies for comfort and support.
Bed in a box mattress companies have become quite popular but Solay stood out to us because of their hybrid mattress but also because they partner with a local charity here in Charlotte called Beds For Kids. For each mattress sold they give one bed and box spring to a child in need. I absolutely love this and I’m proud to be able to partner with Solay on this campaign!
I’m happy to say that we have been very pleasantly surprised with the mattress! The mattress is 11″ tall and it feels very high which is what Kevin wanted. It’s sturdy but still soft and the cover and first layer of foam were created to help regulate temperature. I don’t know how they got this giant mattress into that box but it’s super convenient! Me wrangling a mattress on top of my Prius from the store is never a good idea. :)
Solay has been kind enough to give my readers 20% off your order with the code SUMMER20!!! Head over to their site to check out the mattress and if you decide to give it a try use the code and share it with your friends!
If you’re on the fence don’t worry because they have an incredible return policy! Solay offers free shipping, a 101-night sleep trial and free returns. If you don’t love it they’ll schedule a time to come take it off your hands, donate it and give you a full refund.
One of my other favorite parts of the room makeover is the artwork. We decided to go with a photograph that Kevin took on a trip to Tybee Island, GA. At first I wasn’t sure this would work with the design because I wanted something more neutral but I knew Kevin loved this picture. It turned out to be the perfect pop of color that would set the tone for the rest of the accessories in the room.
I stumbled across these wall sconces at the last minute and we LOVE them! And you guys, they are only $60 from World Market. What a steal!
So, you may or may not recognize this nightstand (it’s mine!) but we haven’t been able to pull the trigger on a new nightstand yet! We’re also waiting on the big Wayfair sale today so hopefully we’ll make that decision and I’ll let you know what we choose. It will be mid-century in style and similar (if not the same) as the one on the design board.
And all you need are just a few good accessories to make a space feel complete!
The bedroom is small but as you can tell it gets a lot of sunny light!

Okay, I’m dying to know what you think? What is your favorite part of the room? Are you feeling the minimal, white-wall style or do you prefer a more traditional design? I think minimal can still be cozy, don’t you?
Also, don’t forget the 20% off code (SUMMER20) if you’re mattress shopping and want to give Solay a try! We’re definitely team Solay!
Cheers and I hope you have a great rest of your week!
Love it!! Wyatt needs a new mattress,- your post has perfect timing.!!!
Yay! Kevin really likes it so far and we were surprised how comfortable and sturdy it is! Hope you guys are well!
