2016 Fall Home Tour: Easing Into Fall with Navy Blue
Welcome everybody to the first fall tour of the season! If you are visiting from Refresh Restyle, welcome, I’m glad you’re here! Isn’t Debbie’s home tour fabulous?!?!
I know some of you folks are already knee-deep in fall weather but here in North Carolina it still feels like summer. When the weather is hot it’s hard to jump right into fall decorating so I decided to ease in with one of my favorite fall colors, navy blue.
I love the wine and burgundy I’m already seeing this season and olive green is definitely a fall favorite, but navy feels a little less harsh right now. Plus blue is my favorite color regardless of the season so it was a no-brainer.
I will warn you, I got a little crazy with my tabletop they year and took some decorating risks that push my own envelope a little
Let’s get down to business and enjoy the tour!

One thing I love about decor and being a home blogger is that I get to experiment with decorating, especially table settings. I had these artificial boxwood tiles leftover from a recent project that I’ll be sharing on the blog soon and a friend told me she had seen them used as placemats. So of course I had to try it! Obviously you wouldn’t sit down for a dinner party and eat on these placemats but how cool do they look styled this way. All you have to do is move them out of the way when it’s time for dinner and you’re all set.
Another one of my favorite fall decorating techniques is to create a flower vase out of a pumpkin. You can read my tutorial HERE but all you really have to do is carve the pumpkin, soak the floral foam and put it inside the pumpkin, then place your stems in the foam and you’re done.
I added some navy blue cloth napkins that I found in the dollar bin at Target along with these thrift store gold napkin rings. I sponge painted this simple white table runner from IKEA with some navy paint we already owed.
I went to Trader Joe’s seeking white roses or another neutral fall flower but to my surprise they still had hydrangeas! The blue ones are the perfect icing on the cake for this early fall table setting. They were starting to droop some but I love them anyway :)
Vintage brass is a decorating staple around here like the salt and pepper shakers that I scored on a trip to the mountains and the hammered brass vase holding the eucalyptus.
I hope you enjoyed the tour!!! What are your favorite fall table ideas? Do you like to experiment table settings too or am I the only one? :)
