Simple DIY Christmas Dining Table Centerpiece Ideas
As we enter the holiday season, I start to get a little stressed about hosting friends and family, but it quickly turns into excitement! I love having my closest people over for a special occasion or for no reason other than there is a little more magic in the air this time of year.
Simple DIY Christmas Dining Table Centerpiece Ideas For This Holiday Season
I’m currently planning a casual Friendsgiving and one of my favorite past events was a neighborhood progressive dinner. No matter the occasion, hosting doesn’t have to be hard. And I’m going to show you some simple DIY Christmas dining table centerpiece ideas that will make it even easier.
1. DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece
In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful centerpiece like this easy DIY pumpkin. I think pumpkins work throughout fall and into the Christmas season and you can change the fresh flowers to match the season. I have an easy tutorial that will show you exactly how to make this pumpkin centerpiece and if you don’t want to use real flowers, faux flowers work too.
2. Classic Wreath and Glass Vase with Flowers
This centerpiece design hardly needs instruction, and is a great option if you’re going for a classic Christmas vibe. All you need is a fresh (or faux) greenery wreath and a small to medium-sized vase. Lay the wreath in the center of the table, fill a glass vase with a floral arrangement of your choice and you’re done. Add some tealight candles sprinkled around the table for a warm glow at your next dinner party. I think this option is great for a more formal dining room.
3. Large Vase with Cinnamon Stick Filler
This might be one of my favorite tables ever! It’s a bit non-traditional, but I love the bright white flowers and the pop of color from the blue napkins. I used a hurricane-style vase and filled it with tall cinnamon sticks to bring in the holidays. This is a simple floral arrangement, elevated for the season with the cinnamon sticks. You could also use a small vase with shorter cinnamon sticks if you don’t need a large centerpiece.
4. An Edible Arrangement
This fun, edible arrangement creates a unique focal point with a modern vibe. Simply, fill a decorative bowl with fresh fruit or seasonal vegetables and you will certainly have a conversation piece in your dining space. Add some fresh herbs to the plates and some pretty candles to finish the look.
5. Nature-inspired DIY Centerpiece
Are you looking for something really budget-friendly and easy to make? Collect flowers, lush greenery, pinecones or any other natural elements, and fill a tall vase. We found all of these in our yard or around our neighborhood. I have some long, craft store feathers on hand that I used for an added touch.
6. DIY Scrap Fabric Table Runner
Create a beautiful table by using scrap fabric to make a table runner, placemats, and/or napkins. I was inspired by some scrap and vintage fabric I had collected over the years and love this festive color scheme. No sewing needed! I just laid the fabric out as a runner and cut other fabric to the size of placemats. If your fabric requires sewing or you need to hem the edges, you can use fabric-fusing tape instead. Finish the look off with some greenery, candles, or other everyday items around the house. This is an easy way to keep the budget low create a uniquely-you design with little effort.
7. A Festive Bar Centerpiece
Do you want the drinks to be the star of the show? Use a cocktail theme like this Jack and Diet Coke and champagne spread to liven up your dining area. The colors made for a fun Christmas setup. We simply used a blanket for the tablecloth and tossed around some sparkles! (Do you see I used the same plaid fabric from the previous year? I give you permission to not buy new holiday decor year after year, just mix it up!
8. Dried Flower Simple Centerpiece
I love a dried flower arrangement because you can keep the flowers longer and the different shades of these hydranges give the table a cozy feel. This fall centerpiece idea is probably the easiest of all the arrangements, simple but beautiful, and can work from fall through Christmas.
On a Budget?
Don’t worry about spending a lot of money on the right centerpiece. There are so many ways to create a beautiful table and dining experience with items you already have at home. So shop your house before you shop the stores! Don’t forget about the thrift store too! You can always find fun fabric, vases, and other decorative elements for cheap!
Pro Tip:
Are you hosting any gatherings this year? If so I highly recommend renting a round table if you don’t have one, and even set it up in your living room if necessary. Round tables allow for better conversation between your guests.
I hope you are inspired by this round-up of dining room table centerpieces and they spark some ideas for your upcoming dinner parties. What is your favorite way to decorate your table for the holidays? Do you have any favorite centerpiece ideas? If so, please share in the comments below!
